What is art? I think that art is absolutely anything you want it to be. It ranges from paintings and drawings, to design, to music, and all the way to filming yourself blowing things up. Art is really just an expression of yourself. I've learned this semester that art gives you free spirit. You can really just do whatever the heck you want. That's what makes it so special. In the art piece below I am expressing myself because I love fishing, so I drew a fishing lure. What is the point of this class? What did I get out of it? I think the point of this class is to sort of be introduced to art to see how you like it. I think that you also learn more techniques and styles in the class as well. I have taken private art lessons in the past, so many of these things i had done before but it gave me a chance to explore them again and really hone my skills. It gave me a chance to express myself as well as re enter the art world. I really enjoyed this class and had a great time doing art again. The piece below is an example of techniques that i had learned before but that i got to play around with again through the class. What are some reasons artists make art? I think artists make art for all sorts of reasons. They make it to express a lot. They can show their interests, likes or emotions. They do it to entertain. In many cases artists want to intrigue or to catch viewers attention. Some might do it to be famous, and others might do it spread messages. There are so many reasons to make art and all are great reasons, because everyone's art and purpose is different. I did the piece below to express myself. I love The Office so i decided to make art that had to do with it.

This is my artist solve main project. The problem that I had to solve was getting the marble from point a to point b. I created a very original piece. Everything about it is my own idea and there isn't anything like it. It is very unique and innovative. I took a bug risk with this project because i didn't know how it would. I didn't know if the marble would fit or if it would roll the way I wanted it to. I took a big risk because it could all be ruined and all the work would be for nothing.
In this project i developed my art making skills in many ways. I learned lots of new techniques to make my collage. These included bubble wrap painting, modge podge, light watercolor, photo transfer, and stencil. I gained skill with these techniques because i used them on my reference grid and in my main piece. This is my Artist Communicate project. A risk i took on this project was uses so many similar mediums. I wasn't sure if they would blend and make sense together but it ended up working nicely. During this project I developed multiple techniques because of the wide range of mediums. I perfected mediums that i had worked with all semester. My groups theme was adventure because we all like adventure and it is a cool topic. I connected because i am big into adventure. I love hiking, fishing, and in general just exploring.
On this project I worked with Christian and another girl in the class. I made the PowerPoint presentation and my art piece. Christian and the other girl made their art pieces. The movement I was inspired by was Constructivism. Constructivism was typically art made of assorted mechanical objects in an abstract way, but styles could vary. The movement began in Russia and spread all over the world. I think my piece relates to the Constructivism period because it is a mechanical abstract piece.
This is the art piece that inspired me. It is a Mona lisa made from rolls of thread put together. It inspired me to pixelate my Dwight Schrute. It is on display at the NC art Musuem. i picked this piece because i like creative and material art, versus paint and drawing. I Was also drawn to it because it looks really cool and i knew i could make something like that. I also knew i could a person if i picked this and that would be exciting. So first i picked a person i wanted to do make. I love the office and dwight is my favorite character so i chose him. next i had to decide what i would make it out of. I went to AC moore until i found jibbletz and they were perfect. It relates to the original piece because it is in a pixelated style. I think with this piece i created was very original. I had never seen artwork like this done. Especially of dwight schrute. My source of inspiration was the work in the NC art museum, but i gave it my own twist. I solved a big problem in this project with finding the right things to use. I thought about beads, and all sorts of stuff. I also needed something that hade many shades. That was a big problem to overcome.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2KZICUb_qg One of my mini projects in the Artists Collaborate series was the Spongebob/Mehoy Nehoy stop motion animation film. A new thing I learned from this was stop motion animation. I had never done it before and the process was very interesting to me. I learned that it took a long time. We had to plan it out, make the objects out of play-do, and then film frame by frame. I think it was very successful because it looks very smooth and tells the story that we wanted to tell. It also entertained viewers as well, so it did what we wanted it to. If i could do it again, i might have taken even more frames and used a tripod of some sort so it looked a little better. Another one of my mini projects was the origami collaborate project. I learned a new style with the Origami folding because I had never done it before. I remember kids making them in elementary school but i never knew how to. I think this piece was successful because i made a lot of them, and they were carefully made. If i did it again i would have made even more to help the other class with their project
This above is my remixed character. It is a combination of spider man and a minion from despicable me.Something new in this for me was the watercolor on the outside of the picture. It was a new technique for me that i really enjoyed.I think that this piece is successful because you can tell what im trying to show. Its obvious what the two mixed characters are. If i could do this again i would use markers instead of paint because it would makes it look more cartoony. This above is my monster ink/drawing. I created the ink splatter by dropping ink on the paper and blowing it with my straw. Then i took that design and made monster out of it. This was a very new interesting new technique for me.I think it is successful because it's a different and cool monster. If i could do this again i would want to add some color or maybe do it in colored ink. I think it would make it more interesting. This is my mini project stencil. Making a stencil was completely new with me. I had never done anything like that. I was very excited for this one because we could use spray paint. I think its successful because you can tell what going on in the stencil and it just in general looks good. If i could do this again i think i would have cut out the stencil on poster paper, because doing it on cardboard was so hard. I also might have added more detail with the stencil. This is my final project for the artist steal series. I decided to do a stencil of anakin... skywalker from star wars. I think this piece communicates a few things about me. First off i am a huge star wars fan so this shows that off some. Second it shows my attention to detail with the intricate stencil design. Especially in he hair.Another thing that this main project did was develop my art skills. Before this, and the mini lesson i really had no experience with spray paint or making a stencil. So it was new and fun for me to get to try out a new style of art.
I really enjoyed drawing this fishing lure. I love fishing so it was a cool way to express myself. I also thought it was cool being able to do it on the iPad. It was very original because nobody else did that. It was difficult putting in all the detail on the iPad but I managed. I really liked having the freedom to draw whatever I wanted to. If I could do it again I would probably choose to use color.
